American Veterans

In an endeavor to bridge the gap between employers and Post-9/11 U.S. military veterans, American Veterans Group, PBC, Wall Street’s sole public benefit corporation, is set to host a groundbreaking virtual conference. Slated for Wednesday, Oct. 25, the conference, aptly named “VetSuccess 2023: Connecting Leaders to Advance Military Veteran Employment,” aims to delve into industry best practices in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of these American heroes.

A Pioneering Initiative to Advance American Veterans Employment

Amidst the ongoing challenges in the employment landscape, the mission to seamlessly integrate Post-9/11 U.S. military veterans into the civilian workforce takes center stage at VetSuccess 2023. The conference will serve as a collaborative platform, uniting veteran-focused nonprofit organizations, universities, and corporate leaders with a shared purpose – enhancing the transition from military service to civilian life for veterans and their partners. Its focal point lies in bolstering the recruitment, retention, and support of these heroes, equipping them to thrive beyond their military careers.

Ben Biles, co-founder and CEO of American Veterans Group, emphasized the importance of this mission, stating, “Research into the state of HR indicates that people and skills shortages remain critical concerns for most organizations. Veteran hiring, specifically, continues to lag behind that of other diverse employee groups. Our mission is to help recruiters better understand the unique and extraordinary soft and hard skills that America’s skilled veterans bring — and to illustrate by example how everyone can win with them in the workforce.”

Meet the Keynote Speaker: Tracy A. Neal-Walden

Tracy A. Neal-Walden, Chief Clinical Officer of Cohen Veterans Network, takes the stage as the conference’s keynote speaker. A distinguished veteran herself, Neal-Walden brings a wealth of experience to the event. She served as a military psychologist/clinician, officer, leader, and academic in the U.S. Air Force for over two decades.

During her illustrious career, she held pivotal roles in clinical and senior-level leadership, and her expertise contributed to policy development and implementation for 75 military treatment facilities. Neal-Walden’s unwavering dedication during deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom earned her the prestigious Bronze Star Medal. She led a team of clinicians who provided invaluable support to U.S. military personnel across nine locations.

In her current role at Cohen Veterans Network, she spearheads the development and implementation of clinical practice and training for a national network of mental health clinics. Her insights promise to be invaluable in the context of advancing military veteran employment.

Distinguished Panelists and Facilitators

Following the keynote address, the conference will feature a panel discussion moderated by Eric Eversole, president of Hiring Our Heroes and a vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Eversole’s esteemed panelists are nationally recognized experts in the realm of recruiting and retaining military veterans. They will not only share their knowledge during the panel discussion but also lead focused breakout sessions, allowing attendees to delve deeper into the specific aspects of veteran employment.
