If you have a lot of credit card debt, the first step to stop the growing debt problem is to stop using the credit cards. Put your credit cards in a self place in a safe deposit box. You can start transferring your balances to a lower interest credit card or 0% interest cards and there start managing your debt yourself. This is sometimes a hassle yet it is a good way to keep your payments reasonable. At lower rates you will be able to make credit card payments that are applied to your balance rather than the interest. Interest payments are the primary reason it is hard to pay back credit card debt.

Another option is to consolidate your debt in one loan with fixed rate and payment. You can look for debt consolidation loans and compare rates and payment. But remember this methods will only work if you stop using the credit cards. If you cannot get a debt consolidation loan or transfer your balance to a low APR credit card then try increasing your payment as much as you can the more you pay toward your balance the faster your interest portion will reduce.
